Modular Backpressure Sensor Patent Awarded
MODULAR BACKPRESSURE SENSOR
PATENT NO. 7,588,060

The FloMAX modular backpressure sensor assembly, which controls the fuel nozzle shutoff, has been awarded a patent for its unique, innovative and superior design. This sensor assembly allows FloMAX nozzles to be the longest lasting and most dependable fuel nozzles in the industry.
Both the FloMAX
FNBL and FN600
diesel fuel nozzles utilize this recently patented shutoff pressure sensor
assembly. This assembly is easily removed to allow for cleaning and rebuild.
It has several advantages over all other competitor's pressure sensors. The
cylinder is nickel-plated steel for greater lubricity and longer wear. The
piston is almost twice as long as other pistons and has two Fluorosilicone
seals, one at each end. This allows the piston to slide straighter through
the cylinder reducing drag and wear. The piston also has a DELRIN bushing
that eliminates metal-to-metal contact and wear. The actuation handle pulls
the piston back with a sliding pin instead of a fixed linkage. This keeps
the piston from being pulled toward one side when actuated.
This sensor assembly can be set to shutoffs ranging from 5.5 PSI to 13.5
PSI by selecting one of 7 available piston springs. Low shutoffs are for smaller
tanks with lower flow rates and lower pump pressure. The higher shutoffs are
used with larger tanks, higher pressures and flow rate, and when filling tanks
that use non-pressure shutoff systems.
This patented shutoff pressure sensor is just one of many innovative and industry leading product designs that keeps FloMAX products setting the standard for fluid transfer and dry-break connectors.
